Living Our Mission by
Helping those in Need
| Imagine...
being part of one of the poorest immigrant groups in Philadelphia...
the Cambodian community.
Imagine...
coping with the trauma and loss from the genocide
wrought by the Khmer Rouge in the 1970's...it still plagues the collective
memory
of this community. Imagine...
struggling to fit into
a foreign urban community where crime is
high, street drugs are in supply, while health and
social resources are not.
|
| Now Imagine...
a non-profit Christian ministry committed to embody the love of
Jesus Christ assisting the Logan community of North Philadelphia
by serving its most overlooked population.. That ministry exists,
you don't have to imagine it. It is LOGAN Hope. LOGAN Hope is a response
to the love and care for the poor that was characteristic of Jesus'
ministry.
LOGAN Hope brings both hope and change to break the cycle of
both physical
and spiritual poverty that pervades the inner-city.

How does LOGAN Hope
help...
The Ministry of LOGAN Hope, founded as a non-profit in 2000, is
an extension of Ken and Anita MacBain's efforts to bring the
gospel in word and deed to the Logan community. Since 2000, a
summer day
camp,
an afterschool program and a private
Christian school have been started.

junkmail, advertisement circulars, office and school mail
in the Abitibi Paper Retriever located at the back of the

Look for the box tops for education logo on cereal
boxes, Kleenex products, Cottonelle toilet tissue, Hefty
paper products, Ziplock products, snacks (Chex Mix) some
dairy products (Crescent Rolls), Bisquick and other products.
Box tops should be placed in the marked container on the table by the stairs
in the Narthex.
- Work Days
During the past year, Good Shepherd held three work
days. One work day was run by our youth (July) and
the others by the adults (April & November). We leave
the church at 8:00 a.m. and finish by 3:00 p.m. During
the past year replacement windows were installed in
the school and much needed clearning, painting, and
reorganizing of the library and resource center was
accomplished. If you would like to be part of the next
work day, please contact Dave Smith (see contact information
below).
Assisting with the purchase
of a LOGAN Hope van
-
WE DID IT!!
- With help from Good Shepherd, Logan Hope School has
been able to replace the school’s
12-year-old fifteen passenger van with a newer,
more reliable one.
This is their only means of transporting students
on their educational
trips and to
swimming.
Contact Dave Smith if
you can help.
