Small Group Ministries

Small Groups are...

...similar in their Four Principles: Outreach, Mutual Support, Spiritual Growth, and Service, yet small groups serve various purposes. New people and new ideas are most welcome in all small groups!

Small Group Ministry is coordinated by a Small Group Ministry Advisory Team. The team encourages individuals or groups of individuals to create their own small groups to be a part of the Good Shepherd Small Group Ministry Network, as long as a group is committed to the Four Principles.

The Types of Small Groups are...
  • Congregational Small Groups
    • Ministry Teams are groups which carry out specific mission tasks in the parish but also spend some time at each meeting for mutual support and spiritual growth.
  • Sunday Church School Classes/Small Groups
    • Sunday Church School classes meet Sunday at 9:45-10:45 a.m. September- June. Each class also functions as a small group, following the Four Principles of Small Group Ministry.
  • Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA)
    • WELCA is a community of women who have committed themselves to grow in faith, affirm their gifts, support one another in their callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, society, and the world. Each WELCA circle functions as a small group.

We meet in the lower level of the Education wing, in Room 109 which is tucked away to your left as you descend the stairs. The coffee/tea pot is always on and there is a tasty goody to enjoy if you don’t have time for breakfast.

As the children of the Sunday School meet with their teachers, we focus on the same topic for our lesson, so that you will have something extra special to talk about with your children on the way home or through the week. You are likely to hear much laughter and often there are some tears as we share this time together. We provide all your supplies and love reading our Bible verses from many different translations. You are welcome to bring your own Bible if you have an edition you love.
