Preparing for the Church Picnic

Every Sunday millions of Christians partake in the ritual of worship. Though most congregate in God’s house, there is an understanding that God’s presence can be felt everywhere. Over the years, Good Shepherd has demonstrated that worship can take place anywhere. This summer we invite you to worship with us in Tamanend Park. On July 25, we will host our annual (minus last year) church picnic. We wanted to provide you with tips on how to best plan for the church picnic.

  1. Register for the picnic - In order for us to have the correct amount of food you need to let us know that you will be attending the picnic. Register via this link

  2. Pull out your favorite recipe - It’s been over a year since we have been able to share a meal together. The Fellowship & Family Ministry will be grilling up hot dogs, hamburgers and portobello mushrooms. Cook up your favorite side to accompany your meal. We will not be sharing sides like in years past.

  3. BYOC (Bring your own chair)- Pack up your favorite beach or camping chair for worship.

  4. Lather up on the sunscreen - The park does provide some relief for the sun, but it is a good idea to soak up the sun responsibly. Make sure the sunscreen you are using is free of oxybenzone or octinoxate as this ingredient has been reported to affect human hormones and negatively impacts coral reefs.

  5. Hydrate - Hydration is super important in helping you stay cool in the heat. Pack your favorite beverage to enjoy during the picnic. We also recommend having a few glasses of water prior to arriving at the park.

  6. Talk to someone new- Connect with your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. If you see an unfamiliar face, welcome them with a friendly smile and get to know them.

We can’t wait to worship with you in the park!
